What By When (WxW) was founded to create a platform for our members to enjoy working on their dream projects with a powerful support network, that enables them to balance art, life, and enjoyment. We take on challenging artistic projects, work with you to distribute work among our members according to need and expertise. Once we’re on the team, we work with creatives and producers to create the appropriate plans and financial allocations that will enable projects to be a success in terms of execution and process. When you work with WxW, you gain access to the expertise of our entire network, no matter who is leading a particular project.

Building on Past success

We have done the work to develop working models that fit the needs of productions large and small. You can engage WxW to fulfill a small part of your production needs, or to manage everything from concept to closing and beyond. Below are some models that we’ve used in the past, in various combinations:

WxW supplies: Pre-production support and consultation
This helps prepare your project to succeed long before you need to hit the ground running. WxW can provide budget estimates for fundraising and grant writing, prepare critical paths and workback plans to set milestones and keep things on track through the lead-up to production.

WxW supplies: PM, TD, and Assistant.
This is suitable for mid- to large-sized shows that require a substantial amount of production labour and support. WxW is your one-stop-shop for Production Management and Technical Direction.

WxW supplies: Production supervisor and Production Team(s)
This is a model we have developed for large, multi-show productions like festivals and repertory seasons. WxW will provide the management on macro and micro scales, ensuring clear communication throughout the process so that nothing gets left behind.

WxW supplies: Production team member
This is for when your organization already has a part of the production team in place, and you’re looking for the key piece to your show’s puzzle. WxW members are experts at integrating with your team, fitting into existing systems or developing them on the fly, drawing from our extensive organizational memory.
